Jun. 2016 General Meeting
June 28, 2016 @ 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Our meetings are open to the general public. We plan our events (agility trials, specialties, WC/WCX) and schedule training days, and generally have a fun time. We encourage you to come!
Presentation
This month, club member Pam Murn will give a seminar on “Tricks”, and Tricks Dog Title.
Do More With Your Dog!® is the only official sanctioning and organizing body for the sport of Dog Tricks.
Dog trainers tend to train the hardest when working toward a goal—it keeps them motivated, and focused. A Trick Dog title can motivate you by giving you a goal. The Trick Dog title allows you to earn your title on your own time, in front of a witness.
Teaching tricks establishes a pattern of learning, teaches skills and focus, is a positive method of training, and promotes a bond between canine and human.
Due to scheduling, this month’s presentation has changed and has moved to the Holzhauer Farm! This month, club member Carl Holzhauer will give a seminar on AKC Tracking Title. Bring your dog along if you would like to try tracking. We will do tracking first and follow with the meeting. Bring along a chair.
AKC Tracking is a canine sport that demonstrates a dog’s natural ability to recognize and follow a scent, and is the foundation of canine search and rescue work. In tracking the dog is completely in charge, because only he knows how to use his nose to find and follow the track. For many, the greatest pleasure of tracking are the hours spent outside, training and interacting with their dogs.
